Welcome to Cherokee Genealogy.

This is a virtual community for Cherokees. What's a virtual community? It's simply an online place to hang out, chat & share.

This site came about for a couple of reasons. The first is because there are 3 official sites for the Cherokee Nation: Cherokee.org, United Keetoowah Band of Cherokees & the Eastern Band of Cherokees; & not a single one have a virtual community where we can hang out.

The second is because I've been searching for a site like this & I can't seem to find one. There are genealogy sites with a board dedicated to individual tribes or simply Native Americans in general. But you have to join the site to get to the board. And sometimes you have to join the board too. There are groups...but you have to join whatever site hosting the group plus join the group too.

I've been trying to research genealogy for 3 years. And it's been a pain to be honest. I think we need a community/repository. I think if we ganged up & worked together we could correct a lot of the bogus info floating around out there. So I built a decent place to do it. Registration is free. So if you've got time to kill, feel free to kill it here.

Just rolled out a new feature that allows members to invite friends from their email accounts and social network accounts.

For various reasons I never got to know my own people. I got a lil info out of my granny on mom's side. I got a whole book out of my aunt on dad's side. And that's all I got...some stats.
